Safe with your files
A program that touches your files has to be careful. These are the rules Pebblemorph follows.
Your files never leave your computer
Every conversion happens on your Mac or PC. Nothing is uploaded, ever.
Originals are never lost
The original goes to the Trash, where you can put it back, or stays next to the new file if you prefer. Nothing is overwritten.
Sensitive documents are never rewritten
Signed, certified or password-protected PDFs and archival PDF/A are not compressed, and you see why. If you choose to turn PDFs into another format, the original of such a document stays next to the new file.
Nothing half-finished
A download is converted only once it has finished. A file that can't be converted cleanly stays as it was, and you see why.
No account, no tracking, no ads
Only the licence check goes over the internet, about once a week: the code and your computer's name. During the trial, nothing at all, unless you ask it to install LibreOffice.
Built on tools the world relies on
FFmpeg, LibreOffice, Pillow and other open-source projects do the converting. Their licences are inside the app.

Out of the box, four kinds of file are converted. Everything else waits until you choose a format for it.

Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu, About This Mac: it says “Chip Apple M…” or “Processor Intel”.
The first time you open it: Pebblemorph is not yet signed with Apple and Microsoft certificates, so your computer asks you to confirm. On a Mac: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway. On Windows: More info, Run anyway.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint files and e-books also need LibreOffice, which is free: Pebblemorph installs it for you when you ask.

Questions
What happens when the trial ends?
Pebblemorph stops converting and leaves your files as they are. Your settings are kept. Enter a licence code and it picks up where it left off.
Does it need the internet?
No, it converts offline. With a licence it checks in with the store about once a week; if it can't reach it, it keeps working.
Can I use it on both Mac and Windows?
Yes. One licence covers up to 3 computers in any mix. You can free a computer from the app and use that slot on another.
It converted something I wanted to keep as it was.
Restore the original from the Trash. In the settings you can set any kind of file to “Keep as is”, or keep every original next to the new file.
